Amanda was looking after her best friend's daughter during an overnight stay back in October 2008. She claims that the child was climbing out of her playpen and fell a short distance, causing her to hit her head.
The defense suggested that the fall may have aggravated a previous injury, arguing that it was impossible that a fall from such a short height would have caused a 3 1/2 inch fracture on the back of the girl's skull. Bleeding and swelling was found in her brain, causing her death.
Terrible.
What a tragic story. We can't even fathom what this family is going through. It's so sad for everyone involved.
